INDOM becomes first Dot EU accredited registrar in France
Leading French registrar is among the first to receive official Dot EU accreditation and is now accepting pre-orders.
Dot EU registry Eurid has started building up its sales network in anticipation of the first phase of the sunrise launch on November 15th. Dot EU domain names will only be available for registration through Eurid accredited registrars.
The registrar accreditation process opened on June 20th and Eurid was immediately swamped with requests from companies eager to be allowed to sell Dot EU domains. French registrar INDOM, a market leader in corporate domain name management, was among the first to get Eurid's official green light.
"We're extremely proud to have become the first Eurid accredited registrar in France," commented Patrick Hauss, manager of INDOM's Strasbourg office. "We've been preparing for Dot EU for the past twelve months and building up an extremely robust technical and administrative infrastructure to secure our customers' names. As part of that strategy, we've opened a branch in Strasbourg, the European Capital, where a dedicated team of domain name and IP experts will process Dot EU requests, for the sunrise and for the full Dot EU launch. Today, we're delighted to have shown our Dot EU expertise by being the first registrar accredited in France."
Eurid accreditation means INDOM is now taking Dot EU pre-orders. Anyone wishing to do so must have Eurid accreditation and the registry has already warned the many would-be registrars offering bogus pre-orders that it considers them in breach of the official registrar contract.
In effect, this means that should these companies ever become Eurid accredited, they are liable to loose their accreditation at any time, thereby putting their customers' domains at considerable risk.
"Being Eurid accredited means we are able to take our customers' orders and, essentially, give them a head start in what promises to be the biggest domain name launch since Dot COM," adds Hauss.
