French registry AFNIC has confirmed that conditions for registration of a Dot FR domain name will further be loosened later on this year.
The French domain Dot FR is currently only open to companies, organisations and holders of trademarks valid in France.
But on June 20th at 9 am, individuals will also be allowed to register Dot FR domain names. Those eligible will have to be 18 or over and able to provide an address in France.
AFNIC says registration procedures will be kept as simple as possible to allow registrars to offer automated online registrations. Registrants will not have to submit documents to justify their eligibility for Dot FR but AFNIC warns it may check registration requests after they have been made.
