Chinese registrars band together for code of conduct
Domain name vendors launch "self-discipline" convention to clean up local market.
Chinese registry CNNIC's latest stats show that .CN is now one of the world's biggest suffixes
According to reports coming out of China, around 40 domain name companies have come together to create an Internet Domain Name Registration Service Self-discipline Convention.
Through 8 commitments, upholders of the convention ideals pledge to provide "balanced" service to their customers. Fair-business practices required under the convention include not misleading customer into registering a domain name and not spamming them, two common domain-related ills domain registrants are often submitted to.
The convention will be administered by Chinese registry CNNIC.
This initiative resembles the Code of Conduct created a few years ago by the Belgium registry for .BE and the European extension's current CoC.
