The .MX registry will now list owner details for each domain names, allowing owners to be clearly identified on the country's public databases.
Under the current system, .MX names don't have a registrant, or domain owner, as such. Only administrative and technical contacts are listed in the public database - the Whois - listing which names are registered and who manages them.
Starting this month, the Mexican registry is updating this system to include registrant information.
From August 1st, a registrant contact will be added to each .MX domain and tagged as the REG-ID contact in the Whois. Another new feature is that from now on, both individuals and companies can be listed as the registrant of a .MX name.
Administrative or technical contacts for any registered .MX domains have until October 31st to let the registry know which contact should become the domain's registrant.
