Peter Dengate Thrush has been voted in as ICANN's new chairman during a closed meeting of the board, with Roberto Gaetano staying on as vice-chair.
New-Zealand's Peter Dengate Thrush and Italy's Roberto Gaetano
As we predicted almost two months ago, New-Zealander Peter Dengate Thrush and Italian Roberto Gaetano were the most likely candidates to take over outgoing ICANN chairman Vint Cerf's position.
At a closed meeting held in conclusion of ICANN's eventful 30th international meeting in Los Angeles, board members unanimously voted in Dengate Thrush as Cerf's replacement, with incumbent Vice-chair Gaetano confirmed for a new term.
Domaines.Info was first to break the news, only minutes after the meeting, thanks to exclusive correspondence from ISOC France president Sébastien Bachollet.
