Currently managed by the University of Puerto Rico, the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis' Internet suffix will soon have a new registry.
The Saint Kitts and Nevis coat of arms
The .KN redelegation was approved during the latest ICANN board meeting, on April 30th. Up until now, the two-island state's extension has been managed by the University of Puerto Rico, who'd obviously had enough and requested the change.
The request was approved by the Ministry of Finance, Sustainable Development, Information and Technology of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and ICANN's Board therefore had no reason to go along.
Surprisingly, .KN will now be handled by Taiwan's TWNIC. At least one ICANN Board member thought it was strange that a group of islands in the West Indies end up with their country code domain managed by an Asian registry. But apparently there were no local candidates.
.KN's redelegation will probably not change its current unrestricted registration rules.
