The .PRO domain is set to open up to prospective registrants worldwide. As part of its drive towards greater international presence, the PRO registry has just announced its first registrar in France.
"RegistryPro welcomes INDOM as our newest authorized .PRO registrar partner, and our first registrar based in France!" The registry itself broke the news on Wednesday July 18 as it added ICANN-accredited registrar INDOM to the list of its official .PRO affiliates.
"INDOM is France's leader in corporate domain management," said INDOM CEO Pierre BERECZ. "We've been waiting a long time to see .PRO open up to European registrants because the domain is simply tailor-made for the large corporations and SMEs that we serve. INDOM and .PRO are the perfect match: both are designed to provide professionals with a unique, high-level service."
Since its launch, .PRO has been restricted to registrants in the accounting, engineering, legal and medical fields. But new rules introduced by domain name regulator ICANN have enable RegistryPro to make .PRO available to all licensed and credentialed professionals and professional entities internationally. .PRO's relaunch is scheduled for July 14, 2008.
