Cameroon is opening its namespace by making three second level domains (COM.CM, NET.CM and CO.CM) available for public registration. A Sunrise is scheduled this month.
Registry operator Netcom will open the second level .CM Sunrise period on October 15, 2008. Only registered trademark holders will be eligible during this initial phase, scheduled to last until October 31.
Any national trademark can be claimed.
The Sunrise will be run on a first-come, first-served basis, with names being awarded to the first applicant as determined by the time and date at which the registration request was sent.
A challenge period will then run from November 1 to November 14. During this time, names requested in the Sunrise period can be disputed. Netcom will handle the challenge requests directly.
The .CM general launch will take place on November 15, 2008.
